How Do Rentals Work?

Facts to know about rentals and answers to most common questions: 

• Rentals are available for:
  • Short term (60 days)
  • Quarter (90 days)
  • Semester (180 days)
• The price of the rentals is based upon the length of the rental term chosen and is fully earned if kept longer than 25 days for quarter and semester rental options. Short term rentals are fully earned if kept longer than 15 days.
• A valid credit/debit card is required on ALL rental orders. The card used to rent a book must have an expiration later than the rental due date. Meaning if the rental due date is 12/21/21 the card expiration must be for at least 1/1/22. If a rental is returned damaged, returned late, not returned, or an incorrect rental is returned, this card will need to be valid for 30 days past the rental due date, so a charge can be attempted for the replacement fee of the book.
• Financial aid and in-store credit can be used for rental orders, but a valid debit/credit card will need to be entered as well (see above).Customers who contact us asking about financial aid should be directed to virtual bookstore (VBS) after confirming the customers school.
• Rental books may be highlighted and written in, up to 1/3 of the content. The customer can be charged a fee (up to the list cost of the book) if writing or highlighting is excessive, as this will be considered damage.
• Customers can extend their rentals at any time for 15-130 days. They can also purchase their rentals. This can be done through the customers My Account.
• We provide a prepaid, UPS shipping label, in the customers My Account. As long as a rental item is in UPS tracking using our label by the due date, the customer will not be charged any late fees.
• Supplements such as CD’s, access cards, workbooks, and answer keys are not included with rentals if listed in the title.
• Rentals are, in most cases, sent out as used products. In about 1% of cases a new item is sent, but still may not include the supplements listed in the title.
• Can only be shipped inside the continental United States.
